Europaplatz High Noon – Kunst auf dem Fasanenhof

A process with a gentle beginning. An orphaned place, an isolated, calm satellite town. What can arise in one month?

Just around the corner: headquarters of companies, the music hall, a multiplex, a casino. The metropolitan region of Stuttgart is growing closer. The city is about to embed its satellites. For decades the Fasanenhof was used for a deportation policy. A healthy mix of the population structure was ignored.

For several years something is changing. The Fasanenhof is becoming friendlier with a new coat of paint and behind the facades the standard is increasing, too.

The Europaplatz is lying like a rotting relic from the old days. Most of the shops have closed down, the apartments are abandoned, the journey is too far for just a simple walk.

It will be dismantled. An awarded modern-style building will take its place. In the mean time, until the new building is being constructed, three years have already passed.

The square now needs a sound celebration after almost 50 years of history. 16 artists from Belgrade, Stuttgart, Hamburg and Weimar have accepted this challenge and are using the location to change and invigorate. Accompanied by guests from the area of music, literature and city culture.

The Stuttgart-based artist Lena Münch and cultural science and dramatics graduate Kay Kromeier – a new resident of Stuttgart – have organized an event with the character of a festival – borne by a wide base of supporters.
